Your Questions Answered

Still unsure?

Reaching out for support can feel daunting, and it's natural to have questions. If you cannot find the answer you're looking for, please get in touch. We'd be happy to have an informal conversation and help you decide whether our service feels like the right fit for you.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support because they are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with relationships, navigating life changes, carrying difficult experiences, or simply wanting to better understand themselves. If something is impacting your wellbeing, therapy may provide a helpful space to explore it.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

This is one of the most common concerns people have before starting therapy. There is no right or wrong way to begin. Many people arrive unsure where to start, and that's completely okay. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Will I be judged?

No. We aim to provide a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly about your experiences. Our role is not to tell you what you should think, feel, or do, but to support you in understanding yourself and exploring what feels important to you.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people find a small number of sessions helpful, while others prefer longer-term support. We regularly review progress together and tailor support to your individual needs and goals.

What is the difference between working with a qualified therapist and a trainee therapist?

Our trainee therapists are carefully selected individuals undertaking professional counselling and psychotherapy training. They receive regular clinical supervision and ongoing support. Working with a trainee therapist can provide a valuable and affordable way to access therapy whilst maintaining high standards of ethical and professional practice.

Why choose private therapy?

The NHS provides an invaluable service and supports many people every year. Some individuals choose private therapy because they are looking for greater flexibility, continuity of therapist, shorter waiting times, or the opportunity to explore their experiences in more depth over a longer period of time.

What happens when therapy ends?

We believe support should not necessarily end when therapy does. Where appropriate, we may help individuals connect with wider community opportunities such as social groups, volunteering, wellbeing activities, education opportunities, peer support networks, or local services. Our aim is to support people in building meaningful, sustainable wellbeing beyond the therapy room.

Do you only offer therapy?

No. While psychotherapy and counselling are at the heart of what we do, The Wellbeing Body is developing a wider wellbeing offer that includes creative workshops, wellbeing education, workplace wellbeing support, community partnerships, knowledge exchange events, and lifestyle-focused wellbeing initiatives. Our vision is to support the whole person and contribute positively to the wider community.
