About The Wellbeing Body

The Wellbeing Body was founded on the belief that emotional wellbeing deserves the same attention as physical health.

We provide integrative psychotherapy, counselling, wellbeing education, and community-focused support. Our approach combines evidence-based practice with genuine human connection, recognising that wellbeing is influenced by relationships, routines, movement, nutrition, environment, identity, and life experiences.

Our vision is to create a service that supports people not only through therapy, but through education, community connection, workplace wellbeing, creative expression, and lifestyle support.

Our Mission and Values

Too often, people seek support only when they have reached crisis point.

The Wellbeing Body was created to provide a space where people can access support earlier, understand themselves more deeply, strengthen their wellbeing, and connect with others who may be on similar journeys.

Our long-term vision is to become a wellbeing hub within our community — bringing together therapy, education, creativity, movement, workplace wellbeing, knowledge exchange, and community partnerships.

We believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, evidence-based support that helps them not only cope, but thrive.

Most importantly, we believe wellbeing should not end when therapy does.

Meet Our Dedicated Team

Our therapists and trainee therapists are carefully selected for their professionalism, warmth, and commitment to ethical practice.

All trainee therapists receive regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development. This allows us to provide accessible counselling services without compromising on quality, safety, or care.

Lydia Alty

Lydia Alty

Lead Psychotherapist

I am Lydia Alty, founder of The Wellbeing Body, qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, registered member of the BACP, Psychology PhD researcher at the University of Southampton, and specialist mentor supporting university students with mental health needs and autism.

My professional experience includes hospital mental health services, residential care, community settings, higher education, and private practice.

Alongside my clinical work, my doctoral research explores childhood traumatic loss and the impact it can have across the life course. This research continually informs the trauma-informed, relational, and evidence-based approach that underpins the service.

I created The Wellbeing Body because I wanted to create something that went beyond traditional therapy — a place where people feel welcomed, understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Our Services

At The Well Being Body, we offer a variety of therapeutic services designed to support and guide you through your personal journey. Our approach is centered around empathy, understanding, and confidentiality, ensuring that you feel safe and supported at every step.

THERAPY & WELLBEING

  • Psychotherapy
  • Accessible Counselling
  • Neurodiversity Support
  • Trauma-Informed Support

We support people experiencing anxiety, low mood, burnout, neurodiversity, relationship difficulties, trauma, loss, self-esteem challenges, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions.

We work alongside you to better understand your experiences, emotions, and patterns, helping you create meaningful and lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.

MOVEMENT & LIFESTYLE SUPPORT

Mental wellbeing does not exist in isolation from physical wellbeing.

Emerging evidence highlights the relationship between movement, sleep, nutrition, stress regulation, and emotional health.

As part of our wider wellbeing vision, we are developing lifestyle-focused support to help individuals create sustainable wellbeing habits that complement therapeutic work.

COMMUNITY & PARTNERSHIPS

We recognise that wellbeing does not only happen within the therapy room.

Where appropriate, we aim to support people in connecting with wider community resources including social groups, wellbeing activities, volunteering opportunities, financial support services, education opportunities, employment support, charities, and peer networks.

We are passionate about becoming an active part of the Derby community and welcome opportunities to volunteer, collaborate, provide talks, attend community events, and work alongside local organisations.
